The Village Lady Vikings Basketball team has enjoyed a lot of success the past two seasons. The program had a combined record of 50 wins, to only 13 losses. This included back-to-back playoff runs to the TAPPS State Quarterfinal. After last season, the Lady Vikings graduated four talented Seniors, including two all-state players. This year's team is young, and has a lot of new faces. With 8 of the 11 players being underclassmen, there is no doubt that the future is bright. That being said, Coach Brotherton is not interested in focusing on the future.
"Are we excited about our future? Yes. Do we plan to look past this year? No way. When programs are built the right way, the success should be sustainable from year-to-year. It is not about rebuilding, it is about reloading. We believe that this year's team has a chance to be really special, if we continue to improve throughout the year," Coach Brotherton said.
"It is always nice to see our players recognized for their accomplishments. We graduated a special group of Seniors, but this year's team plans to continue to raise the bar. We have two wonderful Seniors in Liz M and Ana B. They have given a lot to our program, and so we want to make sure to send them out the right way," Coach Brotherton added.
