Lady Vikings to Host 4th Annual Vikings vs Cancer Game

Lady Vikings to Host 4th Annual Vikings vs Cancer Game

The annual VIKINGS vs CANCER event is this upcoming Friday, January 26th. The girls basketball program started this event during the 2014-2015 season. Over the past three years, our school community has donated over $12,000 to different charities. Vikings vs Cancer Shirts will be for sale in the school store, starting on Tuesday afternoon. The Vikings vs Cancer Day will conclude with a girls basketball game at 6:00PM.

Our Lady Vikings Basketball players will also be selling our "HEARTS OF HOPE" at the high school cafeteria during all 3 lunches. These are cut out pink hearts, which honor Cancer victims, survivors, or anyone who has been touched by Cancer. The cost of the "Hearts of Hope" are $2 each, or 3 hearts for $5. When you purchase a "Heart of Hope," you will write the name of the person that you would like to honor, and we will hang it in the gym for Friday nights game. Wristbands will go on sale on Wednesday. These will say VIKINGS vs CANCER on one side, and NO ONE FIGHTS ALONE on the other side. The cost of these wristbands will be $5.

Coach Brotherton is looking forward to seeing the impact that our community can have, using a sporting event at the platform, "This event means a lot to our school, girls basketball program, and to myself. Cancer has had a big impact on my life, as multiple family members have battled this terrible disease. It is always a powerful experience to see The Village School community come together, to provide support, and raise awareness. We are hoping that people will purchase the items that we have for sale, wear PINK on Friday, and that the bleachers will be full on Friday night!"

Vikings vs Cancer Day is this Friday, January 26th. The Lady Vikings will take on St. Pius, at home, with tip off set for 6:00PM.
