The varsity soccer team opened the preseason in impressive fashion, earning two decisive victories in their opening matches. The team defeated Emery 8–1 in the first match and followed it up with a 13–1 win over Cypress Christian.
Beyond the scorelines, the preseason matches provided a valuable opportunity for growth and evaluation. With a deep roster available, the coaching staff was able to give significant minutes to most players, experiment with multiple formations, and allow athletes to play in different positions.
“It was a good opportunity to play most of our roster in these two matches,” said head coach Matt Mouro. “We were able to play different formations along with having our players play in different positions. Regardless of score, our program is looking for guys to play with high intensity, movement off the ball, and communicate at a high level.”
While the results were encouraging, the focus of the program goes well beyond goals and wins. The standard remains clear as the team continues to prepare for the regular season and the challenges ahead.
