Bio
Coach Cantwell will be entering his 15th season coaching high school basketball in 2025-2026 and his 12th as a head coach and 5th season as the Village Girls Varsity Head Coach.
 
Overall, Coach Cantwell's team's hold a career record of 192-81 in his career as a head coach over his eleven seasons, with 6 district/conference titles and two TAPPS 6A Final Four appearances. 
 
In 6 total years (2 as an assistant) in the Girls Basketball program at Village, the girls basketball program the team has achieved an outstanding level of success, making for TAPPS 6A Final Four appearances, 2 State Title game appearances, winning the 6A State Championship in 2019-2020. The Village Girls Basketball program has sent student athletes on to continue their basketball careers at Texas A&M, Texas Tech, SMU, Pacific, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Penn, Case Western, Hardin Simmons, Oberlin College among others. 
Prior to The Village School, Coach Cantwell served as the Girls Varsity Basketball coach at Mystic Valley in Malden, Massachusetts for 7 years, compiling a record of 103-34 as head coach with 4 league titles, 4 state semi-finals appearances and 3 times being named the Commonwealth Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. Coach Cantwell helped develop multiple NCAA basketball players in his time, most notably two guards that finished their careers as top 50 scorers in Massachusetts state history as well as coaching one student athlete that would go on to become a 2018 Rhodes Scholar.
