8th Grade Season Update

The Eighth-grade volleyball team started our season with a bang. We played in the FAST HJV PRESEASON TOURNAMENT on Saturday. We started the day by playing conference foe Duchesne and falling in two close sets. After a short break, we played Salem Lutheran and St. Mark's Lutheran, who were both steady, experienced teams with excellent ball control. But that did not stop Maddy La Rotta from getting a clean solo block! We fell to both teams to then be matched up against CHSM. We came out strong and never looked back. Ayah Solanji and Amber Deng played lock down defense on the back row and Ashna Bhandari and Juliet Orlandi got kills in the middle. Rachelle Gampel and Emilia Becerra played great on the outside. Our last match of the day was against the same team we played in the first match, Duchesne. This was our fifth match of the day, but we came out with high energy and fantastic serving by Sofia Alonso, Olivia Correia, and Alexandra Strauss and crushed Duchesne in the first set. Clarissa Padilla and Alexi Bopp never came off the court, as their setting, passing, hitting, and serving were what led to our success all weekend! The improvement our team made from beginning to end was remarkable and we have so much to build on!
